Let the stripping out begin!
Messy job but it had to be done, today we started to take out everything from the inside. It felt like ripping the heart out of Bert, but as we started to remove bits we quickly realised we were doing the right thing. Nearly all of the interior was damaged by water damage or damp, and bearing in mind he had sat disused and in the elements for many many years it's not a surprise. Firstly we removed the curtains, then the seating, cupboards & kitchen unit. On another day we will remove all the interior walls and most likely will need to replace much of the framework underneath. The flooring will need to be lifted and a closer look underneath will also be needed. After that we can start resealing him!
And then there was Bert...
Our 1960's Sprite 400 Caravan. Needs a bit of TLC to restore him to his former glory.

Time for a wash!
It was a lovely sunny day on Sunday, Bert has been moved into a better working position... Out come the buckets filled with sugar soap & scrubbing brushes at the ready. A few hours later, a lot of scrubbing and he looks much better! Still along way to go though, but today I feel like we are making some progress.

And we're off!
Finally, a bit of sunshine and some time to begin restoring Bert! Mark is using the angle grinder to remove the rust while the sun is out. Hope to start taking out the bits inside soon so we can actually see and plan Bert's layout. Need more sunshine days so we can give him a good wash off with sugar soap and take a look at resealing the bodywork. The windows look good but need to give them a good old clean. Not sure what colour to paint him yet, need to have a think about that, I want to get it right!

Believe, Inspire, Imagine...
I have always dreamt of having my own little business, I never thought my dream would come true, ever. Then one day I saw him, on eBay... Bert. I fell in love with him straight away and after talking with my husband we decided to go and meet Bert. Well, on Sunday 5th June 2016 Bert came home...Now the real work begins, renovating Bert to make him handsome once more. As for my little business, well, just watch this space.
